Topeliuksen koulu – Turun sivistystoimiala

Topeliuksen koulu is the school of 530 students (classes from 1st to 9th grade).
The school is specialized on language teaching and in the secondary school school levels the students can study olso French speaking CLIL-classes.
There are in total around 50 teachers working in the school.

All the enviromental issues are close to our hearts! As we live close to Baltic sea and all the amazing nature close to us, we are willing to do our best to save it as clean as possible. Also children in our school are open minded and very ready for this kind of projects. We are very proud how Finland is eg. clean and how we think transportation, food waste and eaven heating up the houses and we try to do our best to keep the carbon footprint as small as we can, our school is good example on how to manage all these issues and we want to share our best experiences with all the partners.

The Erasmus+ teacehrs group is formed by 6 teachers, responsbile for different sectors of teaching (science and environment, literature, foreign languges, civic studies, extra-curricular activities). Prof. Kapanen Anniina and Prof. Henna Pikkarainen with the Head master and the responsible for the administrative department will be in charge for the management of the project. If one of the two profs won’t be able to follow the project we will chose another one among the Erasmu+ teachers gourp.
As Finnish school we chose the topics related to climate change and environment, Finnish teacher are educated also with environmental things.

Our students since primary school follow classes on environmental education, this subject is part of our institutional curricula. Henna Pikkarainen is in charge to run the “Green school” habits as we educate our staff all the time to do good choises and think green. Not only lessons but we also organize during the all school year several workshops, laboratories, experiments and excursions, focused on environment and climate change.
